The Dystopian Project – Death Leaves An Echo (EP)

dystopian project - death leaves an echo cover

Irish progressive rock band, The Dystopian Project, is set to release their debut EP entitled “Death Leaves an Echo” on April 2nd. The band previously released an official video for the song “Delirium,” below. Drawing from a wide and eclectic range of musical influence’s and backgrounds

We took a listen to two tracks from the EP, Broken Reality & Dystopian.

The first thing i noticed about Broken Reality was that it definitely isn’t prog. It’s a straight forward heavy rocker with choppy guitar, power chords and all the usual ingredients. This may be the track they are using to pitch for airtime as it is very radio friendly.

Dystopian is a different kettle of fish altogether. A prog metal tour de force and more indicative of the true direction of this band. At 9:05 it has enough changes of pace to keep your interest and then some!
A mesmerising vocal underpinned by some top notch guitar and keyboard work. Probably falling somewhere between Opeth, Anathema and Riverside, The Dystopian Project look to have that elusive blend of songwriting and musicianship to take them to the next level. A solid 8.5 out of 10
