![]() For the lucky 400 or so fans who witnessed the prelude to Hackett's forthcoming tour it must have seemed like Christmas had come early. The set was a perfect mix of old and new and although to a certain extent an anthology, you never got the sense of a greatest hits show or the plundering of the Genesis archive. In fact 'Fire on the Moon' from the forthcoming album "Out of the Tunnel's Mouth had the fresh optimistic feel of a modern day classic showing that Hackett's enduring song writing is as strong as ever. The delay of the album is presumably due to the legal battle over royalties with ex-partner Kim Poor. Let's hope these are sorted out prior to the November tour as this album could be a significant one for Hackett. He even stated before playing "Unquiet Slumbers for the Sleepers", that he was allowed to perform it because he'd written it! Tongue in cheek maybe but there is obviously resentment bubbling under. Other excellent snippets from a past life included 'Blood on the Rooftops', 'Los Endos', an incredible 'Fly On a Windshield - Broadway Melody of 1974' and the seminal 'Firth of Fifth'. From the solo career came liberal doses of Spectral Mornings, Please Don't Touch and Voyage of The Acolyte. A 2 hour set rounded off by an encore of 'Clocks' left the crowd screaming for more. Possibly the best Hackett gig i have ever seen and there have been many over the years. Rating: 5/5
